KONIFER WINDOW PERFORMANCE GUIDE

Maximizing Performance & Troubleshooting for PVC & Aluminum Window Systems

10 SMART STEPS TO MAXIMIZE WINDOW PERFORMANCE

Ensure Proper Installation
Windows must be installed plumb, level, and square in accordance with CSA A440 installation guidelines.
Improper installation is the leading cause of performance issues.
Inspect exterior and interior sealants regularly.
• Re-seal gaps immediately
• Ensure flashing and weather barriers remain intact
All Konifer window systems include drainage channels.
• Do not block weep holes
• Keep tracks clean from debris, dust, and ice
Use handles, locks, and hinges as intended.
• Avoid excessive force
• Ensure full locking engagement for proper sealing
Use non-abrasive cleaners only.
• Avoid harsh chemicals
• Do not use metal tools or abrasive pads
Condensation is often caused by indoor conditions.
• Maintain indoor humidity between 30–50%
• Ensure proper ventilation
Windows are not structural elements.
• Do not apply loads to frames
• Avoid attaching fixtures directly to window systems
During renovation or nearby work:
• Cover windows from dust, debris, and impact
• Avoid exposure to concrete, plaster, or chemicals
At least twice a year:
• Check seals, hardware, and alignment
• Inspect for visible damage
All adjustments or repairs should be carried out by:
• Qualified installers
• Authorized service personnel
